Kilberry Church Handing Over Ceremony
On Saturday 8th April 2023, there was a formal handover service of the former Kilberry Church from the Church of Scotland to the Kilberry 1821 Charitable Trust.
The occasion included a number of important ceremonies. It celebrated the last two hundred years of Kilberry Church; there was a veterans acknowledgment of the war memorials, a handing over ceremony of the keys, and a dedication and a blessing for the future of the building. The service also rememberd the life of dearly loved local man Ian Bell.
To mark the historic occasion, a pipe tune composed by Pipe Major John Hunt of Tarbert, was played for the first time during the service and the framed music score "The Sands of Loch Stornoway - Pipers Rock" presented to Kilberry 1821, followed by an Easter Buffet Lunch.
Christmas Wreath Making Workshop
On Sunday 26th November 2023, Kilberry 1821 hosted a Christmas Wreath Making Workshop led by Agnes from Blooming Wild Crear Flowers.
The event was sold out and guests were provided a variety of natural foliage found in your typical garden in Argyllshire.
After a warm mulled wine, the group got to work, producing individually customised pieces of art, followed by afternoon tea. A great day was had by all.
Participants not only left the event with beautifully crafted wreaths but the knowledge and know-how to create their very own wreaths in the future.
Quiz Night
Friday 23rd February may have been cold outside but there was a warm atmosphere at our very first Quiz Night. Peter and Georgio provided entertainment with 3 general knowledge rounds followed by a music and film round with Suzi. The winning team won chocolates and wine and a good time was had by all.
Film Night
October 27th 2023 saw the pilot of Kilberry 1821 Film Night.
We were honoured to welcome local author Ben Macintyre who introduced his best-selling book Operation Mincemeat which was made into a Hollywood film starring Colin Firth.
Ben gave a fascinating account of the factual, historical events that transpired in his novel before joining the rest of us to watch the film on the big screen.
We hope to make Film Night a regular event so watch this space….
